Chit already knows every line you’ve bought and every expense you’ve shared. Reports turn that into a few pages you can read in a minute: one for your own month, quarter or year, and one each time a group settles up. Every chart is drawn in the same dotted, receipt-paper style as the app.
Your month, quarter and year
Choose which reports you want and the day your month starts, for example payday. When a period ends, Chit makes the report the next time you open the app and can let you know that morning. A simple report shows:
- what you spent, next to your usual amount for a period;
- each day’s spending, and a running total against your usual pace;
- where the money went, and the shops you visited most;
- what you split with other people, kept apart from your own spending.
Before you share one, you can hide the amounts and keep only the shape of it.
A report for every trip
When a group settles up, or any time after, anyone in it can make a report of that period. There’s one for the whole group and one for your own part. The group report shows each day’s spending by type, where the money went, who paid first and the two biggest expenses, and ends with a stamp once everything is settled. Your own part shows what you paid, what your share was and who you’re getting money back from.
If Dot is in the group’s chat, it posts a message when the report is ready.
Deep reports
With Chit Pro, each report can also be made in depth. A deep report runs to several pages and looks at the same records in more ways: day by day and by type, the time of day and the day of the week you spend, how each person’s share was made up and settled, your shops and the price of things you buy often, and the last twelve months.
Dot adds a short comment under each chart and a summary at the end, with what it noticed and something worth trying. Its numbers are checked against the report. One switch hides all the comments if you only want the charts.
Save and share
A report can be saved as one long image, exported as a PDF with a page for each section, or sent straight to the group’s chat. Choose light or dark paper, and the export looks exactly like the preview. A deep report can be shared with everyone in the group, whether or not they have Pro.
Reports are kept on your phone under Me › Reports. If your Pro subscription ends, the deep reports you’ve already made stay there.
